What happens next in 2026

It has been a very enjoyable, eventful and exciting 2025 for us at 2instincts. Many thanks to everyone who has joined casting courses, fishing courses, fishing trips, bought our products and more. We greatly appreciate all of you and look forward to many good experiences in the new year, which is just around the corner.

What is new for 2instincts in 2026?

Upgraded 18.2 ft Spring Salmon

Our new and upgraded Spring Salmon 18.2 ft rod is in production and will be ready early in the new year. As our previous design was a great success, we have not changed much in the new version. Same reel seat and ring design. Our new model is, however, even lighter and has a deep, comfortable action that many are very enthusiastic about. The 2026 model is built on our latest technology and is stronger, lighter and gives fantastic line speed.

New fantastic trout rod

In recent years we have been working on expanding the N2 series with a trout model. It has taken some time to complete our new trout rod, as there are many details that need to be in place before we are 100% satisfied. We are now. It is therefore a pleasure to announce that our new N2 trout rod, 9 ft in class 5, will be ready this spring, in two models. Our first model is a classic version without a fighting butt, the second with a short, delicate 3 cm fighting butt, which we know many people miss, as very few, if any, brands include a fighting butt on their #5 rods. For those who have fished a fair bit for trout and sea trout, we know it is often comfortable to rest the rod against the stomach when playing fish, without the reel coming into conflict with the clothing being worn. At the same time, it is useful to have a fighting butt when putting the rod down, so the reel does not come into contact with the ground. Especially where there is sand and other debris that we absolutely do not want inside the reel.

Furthermore, the trout rod has fantastic casting properties that set a new standard in class 5. With a sensitive tip section that transitions into a smooth curved middle section, it is a pleasure to present even the smallest fly sizes. The butt section of the rod always has something left and holds a great deal of energy, giving long casts easily and comfortably. Absolutely fantastic, and our tests show that very many, if not all, who have tested the rod easily cast the entire fly line. We know many dream of doing exactly that with a five-weight rod.

New trout line

During the development of the N2 trout rod mentioned above, we have also designed a new trout line. This has a new and very comfortable profile and suits our new trout rod perfectly. The line is floating and comes in classes 4 to 7. The line head is approximately 9 metres. It has a rear taper of around 3 metres. This makes the line very flexible both for long overhead casts and underhand casts, even in tight situations.

We will soon update all new products in our online shop. Also our dream trips. At the moment there are a couple of rods available for Scotland this summer, should anyone wish to experience one of the world's most beautiful fly fishing rivers with a lot of fly fishing history. Welcome.

15 years.

2instincts turns 15 in the new year, and that must of course be celebrated. We will soon come with more details, but it is in the cards that we will have an anniversary sale already in January. It will also be possible to pre-order new products that will be delivered in the spring. Something to look forward to.

Casting courses spring 2026

We will start up with casting and fishing courses in and around Bergen this spring. Keep an eye on our pages when all details are ready.

21 December and the winter solstice

At the time of writing, we have reached 21 December. The 355th day of the year, and the 356th in a leap year. Winter solstice. We are moving towards brighter times, and there is much to look forward to for us fly fishers.

On this day in 1913. The first crossword puzzle was published.

On this day in 1937. The film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered.

Remember that a well-executed fly cast saves a bad day.

Christmas greetings
