New dream trip

New dream trip

It is a great pleasure to once again invite you on a new dream trip to Argentina in search of Golden Dorado. These are trips that create wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. The natural experiences are both unique and fantastic.

The fishing is second to none.

This is a trip we highly recommend, and you are hereby invited.

Arrival at the lodge: 28 November

Departure from the lodge: 5 December.

Departure from your home location one to two days before arrival at the lodge, depending on your preferred itinerary.

The same applies to the return journey. It is entirely possible to fly direct if you wish.

We are happy to tailor and put together the perfect itinerary for you.

There are 8 fly fishers per week. We currently have 2 places available for the week of 28 November to 5 December. We update this information regularly.

Below is a report from a similar trip in 2025. This was a fantastic experience for everyone who took part, and we will do everything we can to ensure the fishing is just as exciting and enjoyable as on the previous trip and all the other trips we have organised over the last 9 years at Golden Dorado fishing.

Report on Argentina with Golden Dorado Fishing, November 2025. The Iberá Wetlands, the world’s second-largest wetland system, and the Paraná River.

What a fantastic trip this was for everyone who took part. Not only was it a brilliant fishing trip, but also a nature experience quite out of the ordinary.

It is hard to find anywhere else in the world where you can see so many different bird species on a fishing trip. It was mentioned that the area is home to over 350 different bird species at certain times of the year; we certainly saw around 50 different ones. But then again, the Ibera Wetland is a unique area with restricted access, and birdwatchers from all over the world dream of experiencing it. Some of the birds we saw were the greater rhea, various herons – the all-white one was particularly stunning – storks, parrots, eagles and a number of smaller species that we would have loved to have better photos of. We should have brought a telephoto lens.

Furthermore, we saw capybaras – the world’s largest rodent – almost daily, along with marsh deer or pampas deer among the local wildlife, giant otters, foxes and caimans of various sizes. Absolutely brilliant.

On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by our hosts and, before dinner on the first evening, a short but absolutely brilliant show was put on for the fishing group, which consisted of nine fly fishers. Local musicians and dancers performed in the best Argentine style and the atmosphere was brilliant before a superb steak was served. Just as it should be....

Great atmosphere before dinner. The temperature was around 23 degrees at nine o’clock in the evening

On this trip, there was plenty of fishing action throughout the week. In this report, we’ve picked out some of the moments that fly fishers will remember for a long time.

As mentioned above, Stig Åge, later SÅ, was on his third trip with Golden Dorado fishing. SÅ was well prepared and there was plenty of fun to be had right from the first round on the first day. We landed about 7 or 8 fine Dorado, lost a few, and caught some Piraja varieties. The name Piraja comes from the Tupi-Guarani language, where ‘pira’ means fish and ‘sanha’ means tooth. These fish are, of course, known for their extremely sharp teeth, so neither SÅ nor the rest of us are particularly pleased when they take our flies. The fly is ruined and there are only a few fibres left on the hook. Just change the fly and carry on. It makes for a short break too; whilst the guide changes the fly, there’s time to have a drink and enjoy the surroundings. Here are some action shots of SÅ.

Great memories that will be remembered for a long time and that tempt us to do it all again...

Moving on.

Lars from Sweden has been on Golden Dorado fishing trips a number of times and has featured in several previous reports here at 2instincts. This year, Lars brought along his childhood friend, Kenneth. Kenneth is a very experienced fly fisherman but has not tried Golden Dorado fishing before.

Both wanted to try their luck on the main river, the Paraná, in search of the largest Golden Dorados found in this great river.

Here are a few highlights.

More great moments for Lars. And more were to come over the course of the week...

More great moments for our Swedish mates. Congratulations once again on some fantastic fly fishing. Well deserved after many casts and plenty of determination. ARRIBA

Below are a few more randomly selected photos from the hundreds we took on the trip. We also filmed quite a bit, and on some days we were joined by a film crew who are making a nature and fishing film about this unique area. It will be exciting to see what comes of it.

Yes, this was some of what we experienced on this fantastic fishing trip to Argentina. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who joined us on the trip once again. You were all brilliant, and many memories will be cherished forever. A big thank you to the guides and lodge staff who made this an especially enjoyable and wonderful trip. The food was superb, and the white wine we had with the fish one day was magical. Thank you for sharing the photos.

Before I finish, I must share a story about something Lars experienced one day whilst he was out fishing. Lars tied on one of his special flies and cast out. After a few casts, he hooks a fine dorado weighing around 6 kilos. During the fight, just as the fish is about to be landed, a monster dorado comes charging in at breakneck speed and snatches Lars’s little 6-kilo fish. It snapped the line right in the middle and also cut the leader at the same moment. Lars and the guide just stood there looking at each other, wondering what on earth had just happened. That Dorado must have been massive, 40 kg plus... Lars and the guide only saw ripples and splashes right by the boat, and it all happened in a matter of seconds...

Well, we know that such monster fish exist and were more common a few years back. Good to know they’re still out there, and it’s possible we’ll have to go back next season to see if we’re lucky. We’ve seen films and heard similar stories before; it’s brilliant that one of our fly fishers got to experience this. A true fishing story that will be remembered forever...

We use single-handed rods in classes 7 to 8. On this year’s trip, most fish were landed with our N2 in class 8. Floating line and floats with intermediate tips from SA. Flies were foam, muses and streamers in various colours, fished at high speed. Proper fun, and every time a Dorado strikes, it happens quickly and brutally... We often saw the fish on its way to take the fly in the clear water. Magical.

Regards from a very satisfied tour leader who is already looking forward to another trip to this magical destination, which is unlike anything else in the sport of fly fishing. Love it.

For those of you considering such a trip, just get in touch for a chat.

Helge Vetås 2instincts

Above: tour guide Helge, testing sunglasses, beautiful pink flowers of which there were plenty, and a Dorado that took a large frog foam fly, which was fished with short jerks on the surface. The water splashed. And the fish struck with a brutal attack as if it were the last thing it would ever do. That strike is one I shall remember for a long time.

Extra photos

During a film clip where Stig Åge lands a fine fish. Helge is filming. The guide rows the boat into an unknown channel...

The fish weighed between 6 and 7 kilos. It was tagged and is now swimming around with a small tag as part of a new project designed to provide new and useful information about the fish’s migration patterns in this vast and unique area. It’s great to be part of this, and it will be interesting to receive updates on when and where this fish is spotted later on.

Thank you for reading this report; I hope it has inspired you to join us on a new fishing trip with 2instincts.

Our next trip will be from 28 November to 5 December 2026.

Welcome
