Developed for fly fishers
2instincts was established in 2015.
Behind the brand is a simple idea: fly fishing equipment should be developed by people who fish, test and adjust it themselves until it feels right.
Quality, design and innovation have always been core values for 2instincts. Not as grand words on paper, but as practical choices in the development of rods, reels and wading gear.
We develop equipment for fly fishers with different needs. Some have fished for a lifetime. Others are just finding their way into fly fishing. What they have in common is that the equipment must work when conditions change, the wind picks up, the water level shifts and the fish takes.
From idea to finished product
A product from 2instincts rarely starts on a screen.
It often starts with a thought by the river. A detail that could be better. A rod that should load differently. A reel that needs better brake control. A pair of waders that must stand up to more use.
That is where the work begins.
First come sketches, rough lines and ideas. Then follow design, material choices, technical solutions and adjustments together with engineers and manufacturers. When the first sample is ready, the most important part begins: testing.
We test, adjust and test again.
Sometimes small details have to be changed. Other times, larger parts of the product must be reworked. It takes time, but this is where the product is made. Not in the catalogue. Not in the marketing. By the river.
Tested where the equipment will be used
Our equipment has been tried in rivers and fishing situations all over the world.
Norway. Scotland. Argentina. Patagonia.
We also use our network of guides, ghillies and fly fishers who stand by the river throughout the season. They quickly see what works, and what does not.
When a rod, reel or pair of waders from 2instincts goes into production, it should be carefully considered, thoroughly tested and ready for practical fishing.
Fly fishing around the world
2instincts is not only about equipment.
We also arrange fishing trips, courses and gatherings for fly fishers who want to learn more, fish better and experience good rivers together with people who know them.
When we offer a trip, you should know that we have been there. We know the lodges, the rivers, the guides and the setting around the fishing. Many of our destinations are places fly fishers from all over the world have visited for many years.
We always bring our own tour leader or guide on our trips. That gives extra security, both before the journey and when you are standing by the river.
Courses and practical fly fishing
Our experience should also be felt on our courses.
Our courses have a clear profile: practical fly fishing under real conditions.
We go through equipment, casting, line choice, leader, presentation and the small adjustments that make a big difference. The aim is not to make fly fishing more complicated. The aim is for you to understand more of what happens between rod, line, fly, water and fish.
We offer both scheduled courses and tailored programmes for private groups, clubs and companies.

The name 2instincts is about the instincts in nature.
The fisher’s instinct. The fish’s instinct.
It is the interplay between these two that lies behind the name. The moment where experience, technique, conditions and the fish’s reaction meet.
