New dream trip to Argentina

New dream trip to Argentina

We have now started booking/reservations for a new dream trip to Argentina for Golden Dorado fishing. The trip will take place in November; a few small details remain on arrival and departure dates, but otherwise most things are in place.

So if you would like to experience a week of magical fishing in fantastic nature, you are hereby invited.

If you are unsure whether you have the equipment for such a trip, or whether this seems demanding, relax. We have equipment available to borrow and a guide who will help with the big and good moments.

This is a memory-for-life trip, and it is the whole package that makes us so fond of these trips.

The trip is planned for November, as with the previous trip, as this is a good fishing period and without the heat becoming too much. Yes, we speak from experience...

Please get in touch here if you would like detailed information and a price quote.

Below you can read this year's report, from the same area we will visit next November.

Above, some of what we were served on the trip. On the left in the row, Argentinian chorizo sausage. Worth the trip alone.

Report from Argentina, Golden Dorado fishing, November 2025. Ibera Wetland, the world's second largest wetland system, and the Parana River.

What a fantastic trip this became for everyone who joined. Not only was it a brilliant fishing trip, it was also a nature experience completely out of the ordinary.

Seeing so many different bird species on a fishing trip is difficult to find elsewhere in the world. It was mentioned that at certain times of the season the area holds more than 350 different bird species; we probably saw around 50 different ones. But then again, Ibera Wetland is a unique area with limited access, and birdwatchers from all over the world dream of experiencing it. Some of the birds we saw were greater rhea, different herons, especially the completely white one which was beautiful, storks, parrots, eagles and a number of smaller species we would have liked better pictures of. A telephoto lens should have been with us.

We also saw capybara, the world's largest rodent, almost daily, as well as marsh deer, or pampas deer as the locals call them, giant otter, fox and caiman of various lengths. Incredibly enjoyable.

On arrival we were well received by our hosts, and before dinner on the first evening a short but incredibly enjoyable show was arranged for the fishing group, which here consisted of 9 fishers. Local musicians and dancers delivered in true Argentinian style, and the atmosphere was brilliant before a proper steak was served. As it should be...

Good atmosphere before dinner. The temperature was around 23 degrees at nine o'clock in the evening.

There was plenty of fishing action during the week. In this report we have selected some of the moments the fishers will remember for a long time.

As mentioned above, Stig Åge, later SÅ, was on his third Golden Dorado fishing trip. SÅ was well prepared, and already on the first round of the first day there was plenty of fun. Around 7/8 nice Dorado were landed, some were lost, along with a few Piranha variants. The name Piranha comes from the Tupi-Guarani language, where pira means fish and sanha means tooth. They are known for their very sharp teeth, so neither SÅ nor the rest of us are particularly happy when these fish take our flies. Then the fly is destroyed and only a few fibres are left on the hook. Just change fly and continue. It makes for a short pause too; while the guide changes the fly, there is time to drink a little and enjoy the surroundings. Here are some action pictures of SÅ.

Good memories that will be remembered for a long time and that tempt a repeat...

Moving on.

Lars from Sweden has joined Golden Dorado fishing several times and has appeared in several earlier reports here with us at 2instincts. This year Lars brought along his childhood friend, Kenneth. Kenneth is a very experienced fly fisher but had not tried Golden Dorado fishing before.

Both wanted to try the main Parana River, hunting for the largest Golden Dorado found in this great river.

Here are some highlights.

Several good moments for Lars. And more were to come during the week...

More good moments for our Swedish friends. Congratulations once again on fantastic fish. Well deserved after many casts and good determination. ARRIBA.

Below are a few more randomly selected pictures from several hundred taken on the trip. We also filmed quite a bit, and on some days we also had a film team with us, who will make a nature and fishing film from this unique area. It will be exciting to see what comes out of it.

Yes, this was some of what we experienced on this fantastic fishing trip to Argentina. I would like to take the opportunity once again to thank everyone who joined the trip. You were great, and many memories are stored forever. Many thanks to the guides and lodge staff, who made this an extra pleasant and good trip. The food was brilliant, and the white wine we had with the fish one day was magical. Thank you for sharing pictures.

Before I finish, I have to include a story Lars experienced one day while out fishing. Lars tied on one of his special flies and cast out. After a few casts, a fine Dorado of around 6 kilos hit. During the fight, as the fish approached the landing, a monster Dorado came at tremendous speed and took Lars's little 6-kilo fish. Cut it clean in half and cut the wire at the same time. Lars and the guide just stood looking at each other, wondering what the hell just happened. That Dorado must have been huge, 40 kg plus... Lars and the guide saw only swirls and splashes right beside the boat, and everything happened in seconds...

Well, we know that monster fish like this exist and were more common some years ago. Good to know they are still there, and that means we may have to return next season to see if we are lucky. We have seen film and heard similar stories before. Cool that one of our fishers got to experience this. A true fishing story that will be remembered forever...

We use single-handed rods in classes 7 to 8. On this year's trip, most fish were landed with our N2 in class 8. Floating line and floating line with intermediate tip from SA. Flies were foam, mouse and streamers in different colours, fished at high speed. Proper fun, and every time a Dorado takes, it happens fast and brutally... Often we saw the fish coming to take the fly in the clear water. Magical.

Best regards from a very satisfied tour leader, already looking forward to a new trip to this magical destination, which is unlike anything else in fly fishing. Love it.

For those of you considering such a trip, just get in touch for a chat.

Helge Vetås 2instincts

Above, tour leader Helge testing sunglasses, beautiful pink flowers of which there were many, and a Dorado that took a large frog foam fly fished in small strips on the surface. The water sprayed. And the fish took with a brutal attack, as if it was the last thing it was ever going to do. Yours truly will remember that take for a long time.

Extra pictures

Below, a short film clip where Stig Åge hooks a nice fish. Helge films. The guide poles the boat into an unknown channel...

The fish was between 6 and 7 kilos. It was tagged and now swims around with a small tag as part of a new project that will provide new and useful information about the fish's migration pattern in this large and unique area. Nice to be part of this, and it will be interesting to receive information about when and where this fish is observed later.

Thank you for reading this report. I hope it gave inspiration for a new fishing trip together with us in 2instincts.
